Glorious Fall Day!

October 29, 2008

It was a glorious fall day with bright sun illunimating the colorful leaves.  My daughter and I had decided to go hiking at a nearby state park here in the Ozarks.

We enjoyed a picnic lunch at a table near a fast moving stream. Leaves twirled in the air as the breeze brought a slight chill.

“Look at the size of that leaf!” my daughter exclaimed.

I looked around. I saw millions of leaves on the trees, ground and water arond me. Which one was she talking about?

She laughed as she realized what she had said, and pointed out the one in the stream near where we were standing.

Yes, it was huge, probably 15″ across.

While we had a good laugh over this incident, I wonder–how hard is it to find God’s grace in the world around us? Can we find God’s grace in the hard places of life?

Open your eyes, it’s all around you, if you look for it.

Press In, Press Out, Press On

October 28, 2008

PRESS IN

What do you do when you get a phone call from the doctor’s office, and the voice is serious as test results are explained?

You Press In to the Lord, leaning and trusting on His steadfast nature in the midst of tough situations.

What does this involve?

It means believing the promises of God in a deeper way–not just with your heart for inspiration, but with your head for belief.

It also means releasing your difficult situation to the hands of Jesus through prayer. His hand is firmer, stronger and yet gentler to handle the pressure in our lives.

Press in to the loving support of our God.

“You (God) will keep in perfect peace, the one whose mind is steadfast, because he trusts in you.” Isaiah 26:3

PRESS OUT

Feeling up against a wall or closed in by problems? Press out the difficulties.

“I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength.” Philippians 4:13

Press out unforgiveness and bitterness. Press out the hindrances in your relationship with others and with God.

Remember, with God, all things are possible!

And finally, PRESS ON!

“Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on to the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Chrsit Jesus.” Philippians 3:14

Facing challenges or disappointment? Struggling with depression or loss of hope?

Each day is a clean slate with an new chance to try again.

Press on in Jesus’ name!

Mighty to Save

October 6, 2008
Great News!
In this day of despair…when we hear of the economic problems of the world…
when loved ones suffer with disease…
here is some great news that gives great hope…..

“The Lord your God is with you…
He is mighty to save.
He will take great delight in you
he will quiet you with his love
he will rejoice over you with singing.”
    Zephaniah 3:17

Let’s look at this verse, line by line:
The Lord your God is with you.
He has promised he will not leave you.
In fact, Jesus’ name Immanuel means, “He is With Us.”
He is mighty to save.
What a comfort to know these two things: God is MIGHTY and he will SAVE.
He longs for all to come back into relationship with Him.
He will take great delight in you.
The Mighty God delights in us! This hard to understand thought is one to cherish.
    He loves us so much.
He will quiet you with his love.
Think of this image: a mother comforting a distraught child, rocking her child to peaceful sleep.
That is how God is;He quiets our weary hearts in a way that only He can, and
can replace our turmoil with peace.
He will rejoice over you with singing.
Not only does the mighty God save us, delight in us and comfort us, but we bring joy to
him and His heart sings! Like a parent being pleased with their child’s expression of love,
    God is delighted in us.

In the hectic pace of life, can you quiet your heart to hear the lovesong of mighty God?
He cherishes you and loves you.
Reread the verse and listen closely.
Let the love of God soak into your heart.
